Vice Prime Minister of Mongolia Mr.Amarsaikhan Meets with Free Zone Heads and Issues Work Directives

As part of the Government of Mongolia’s 2024–2028 Action Plan, regional development particularly the acceleration of Free Zones and Economic Cooperation Zones has been identified as one of the priority tasks.

To implement this policy direction, on December 16, 2024, Vice Prime Minister of Mongolia Mr. Amarsaikhan held a meeting with the heads of the Zamiin-Uud, Altanbulag, and Tsagaannuur Free Zones. During the meeting, he was briefed on the current challenges facing each zone, the progress of ongoing projects, and the state of infrastructure usage. The parties also exchanged views on key issues, and the Vice Prime Minister gave specific work instructions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Vice Prime Minister issued the following directives to the Free Zone heads:

  • Ensure the standardized and regulated operation of the Zamiin-Uud, Altanbulag, and Tsagaannuur Free Zones by June 1, 2025;
  • Develop and approve master development plans for each of the three Free Zones;
  • Conduct a full review of companies holding special permits to operate within the Free Zones and revoke the permits of those that have not commenced operations;
  • Accelerate the implementation of ongoing projects and programs within the Free Zones;
  • Actively attract foreign investment to ensure the stable and sustainable operation of the Free Zones.
