In accordance with the “Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China on the Establishment of the Mongolia–China Zamiin-Uud–Erenhot Economic Cooperation Zone,” the Mongolian side has officially established the Joint Management Committee for the cooperation zone. The composition of the committee was approved by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia in November 2024, and the committee held its inaugural meeting on January 9, 2025, in Zamyn-Uud, Dornogovi Province.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. D. Damdintseren, Chairman of the Mongolian side of the Joint Management Committee and Head of the Zamiin-Uud Free Zone Administration. In his opening remarks, he presented the key agenda items and outlined the planned measures moving forward.
At the conclusion of the meeting, members held in-depth discussions on accelerating the implementation of the intergovernmental agreement, coordinating cooperation among border agencies, speeding up regional infrastructure development, ensuring cross-border connectivity, and launching the operations of the cooperation zone by the third quarter of 2025. It was agreed that challenges arising during the preparation process would be addressed through ongoing consultation and joint decision-making.
